The Nike Air Max 1 '86 "Chicago" is a colorway of the retro performance running shoe from the “Chicago” pack that draws inspiration from the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. Following the massive fire that spread throughout the Windy City, residents worked together to repair the city’s architecture by replacing burned wooden structures with steel, concrete, and glass. As for the shoe at hand, the upper shows love to the “second city” of Chicago with colors inspired by skyscrapers and modern buildings. The upper features a white mesh base with Wolf Grey leather overlays and a Blue Chill leather Swoosh, the latter of which is inspired by the mirror image of buildings reflecting off the surface of Lake Michigan.
