The thisisneverthat x New Balance 2002R “The 2022 Downtown Run” is a collaboration between the South Korean-based streetwear brand and New Balance on the retro running shoe. The “2022 Downtown Run” reunites the two brands, who previously collaborated together on colorways of the New Balance 2002R in 2020. The look and feel of the “2022 Downtown Run” is similar to the brand’s previous projects, which is clearly a good thing as evidenced by the colorway’s versatile design and attention to detail. Grey mesh appears on the base and tonal nubuck is found on the overlays. The cracked grey leather on the collar and tongue give the shoe an aged aesthetic. A grey “N” logo appears on the sides. Blue accenting can be found on various overlays throughout the upper. The shoe’s N-ergy midsole features New Balance’s signature ABZORB cushioning in the heel.
